Copy Cases

AIO Tests allows you to clone an existing test case with a click of a button. Whether you want to create multiple copies of an existing test case or want to use the details of an existing case without creating it from scratch again, the test management tool lets you do it with ease.

In this documentation, you’ll understand:

Steps to Copy a Case

Step 1: To copy a case, all you need to do is click on the Cases option in the top bar menu.

Step 2: On the Cases page, right-click on the case that you want to copy and hit the Copy option from the drop-down menu.

Users can also copy the case from the Case detail page.

Step 3: Once you click on the Copy button, the Create Case modal window will appear on the screen with all the details of the source case.

Users have these two options to choose from:

  • Create Case: Clicking on the Create Case button will create the case and the user will be returned to the page from where the Copy was clicked (cases grid or case details page).

  • Add Steps: Clicking on the Add Steps button will show the Steps screen with steps from the source case already populated. Users can change the order of the steps, update (add, edit, delete) the steps or simply click ‘Save Steps’ to re-use the steps as-is.

The user is returned to the page from where the Copy action was clicked with a success message. Users can click on the link of the newly created case in the success message to navigate to the new case.

  • To avoid confusion, it is recommended to change the name of the test case to suit the needs of the target case being created.

  • While copying a case, linked cases of the same project or other project, will get copied as-is. E.g. if case 1 has case 2 as a linked step, a copy of case 1 will also have case 2 as a linked step (regardless of which project it belongs to.

  • While copying a case, step-level attachments of non-linked steps as well as linked steps, will get copied.

  • While copying a case, if the user doesn’t have access to any of the linked cases (of other projects), they won’t be able to create a copy of the case.

Once you copy the case, it will be automatically added to the list of test cases from where the Copy action was clicked
